Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra is set to feature a titanium frame, taking inspiration from Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. This innovative design is creating quite a buzz, and sources from South Korea, Samsung’s home country, have confirmed this exciting development.
In the world of smartphones, this will mark a significant milestone for Samsung as the S24 Ultra becomes the first in its lineup to boast a titanium outer frame. The company is keen to gauge user reception, and if successful, we may see this trend expand to other models in the future.
Recent rumors have kept enthusiasts on their toes, initially suggesting that the entire S24 series would sport titanium frames, only to return to the Ultra being the chosen one.
A key factor to consider is the cost: the current aluminum frames come in at less than $20. The adoption of titanium will depend on production yields, as lower yields could inflate costs by four to five times, which may not align with market expectations.
To make the transition to titanium a reality, Samsung has tentatively aimed to produce 15 million titanium frames initially, which intriguingly matches the number of Galaxy S23 Ultra units shipped this year. The S24 Ultra appears to be the designated recipient of this exciting new frame material.
In addition to the titanium outer frame, the S24 Ultra will feature a flat-screen. The inner frame, however, will remain aluminum, mirroring the design approach of the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.
This blend of materials promises to offer a unique and appealing combination for smartphone enthusiasts. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development!
